Prada

January 21st, Prada Group Vice Chairman Carlo Mazzi said that Chinese consumers are now buying luxury goods everywhere in the world, and that the group was especially strong in tourism consumption. He concluded that rather than focus on the Chinese market, expansion into other major cities around the world could effectively deliver a greater increase in sales.
Having said this on the 23rd of January, Prada opened its largest flagship store in west China within the Chongqing WFC. Miu Miu and Givenchy also opened a store in the same time in this mall.

In the nine months from February to October 2013, Prada China net sales grew by 14.8% to 592.6 Million Euros.

Louis Vuitton

In 2013, the Chairman of Louis Vuitton Group is quoted as saying that the brand will restrict expansion and stop opening stores in second and third tier cities in China. But in fact, LV’s pace of expansion in China has not slowed and its shop opening strategy appeal s to be part of its long-term development strategy.

On 9th January, the second LV store in Tianjin, in the Tianjin Galaxy Mall opened. Another new store opened in Jinan, the first in Jinan and the second in Shandong opened on the 22nd January.

Dior

January 18th, a Dior backstage make-up concept store opened in Wuhan.

Burberry

Burberry announced on January 15th that the sales in the fourth quarter of 2013 showed significant growth driven by the Asia-Pacific market, and operating income reached £ 528 million, an increase of 14%. From a regional perspective, the Asia-Pacific region continues to maintain double-digit revenue growth, the Chinese and Korean markets are the focus.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Salvatore Ferragamo launched several new collections related to the Chinese Zodiac Horse, includes a 18K gold and sterling silver horse shaped accessory, a horse shaped key ring, silk printed tie and scarves and as well as a mini gold bag limited to 25 pieces and only available in Shinkong Place in Beijing.

Gucci

Gucci introduced its China-exclusive collection of Bright Bit bags to celebrate the year of the horse. As a limited edition, a metal tag stating ‘China Exclusive’ is found inside each bag from the exclusive commemorative range.

Ermenegildo Zegna

Many famous Chinese celebrities were reported to be seen wearing Zegna whilst attending awards or film festivals during CNY, they included Andy Lau and Nick Cheung.

HUGO BOSS

On January 15th, Hugo Boss opened a brand new flagship store in the Shanghai Kerry Center; the store covers 800 sqm over 2 floors and is the largest in Mainland China.

Coach

On January 22nd Coach reported its earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2014. Up to December 28th last year, the company’s total sales in North America decreased by 9%, while those in China grew 25% over the same period. It opened 10 stores in China, and will continue to increase the number in future. Store openings included the third store in Wuhan on December 31st, and its first in Weihai, Shandong province on January 25th.
